Clinical Lead at TTC Golders Green

Gemma is an exceptional, passionate and experienced Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist. She takes an immense about of time and care in her work, liaising with professionals, parents and young people in order to make sure that her work is supported with a strong foundation before meeting the client. Gemma has an unrivalled ability/capacity to reach children and adolescents & families who are disengaged or ambivalent about the therapeutic process and to work alongside them to build a solid, safe, supportive relationship in which therapeutic work can take place in depth. Gemma uses a wide variety of creativity in her work from sand-tray to artwork. She is able to be both playful and light hearted and work with assiduously, often simultaneously. She is an extremely skilled therapist who is able to work within a immense range of skill set – she is playful work with younger children to holding very difficult mental health presentations.

Gemma has many years, experience of working with children, young people & families – she prevented primary exclusion for many years in Hertfordshire. She trained as a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist at Terapia in 2011. She has worked for many years in schools (both primary and secondary), teaching on child psychotherapy trainings, supervising and having her own private practice since qualification. Her private practice started as part of an alternative provision & grew from there. She has been at TTC since its inception in 2012 and is now the Clinical Lead at TTC Golder’s Green which opened in April 2021 – within this role she supervises the Golders Green team and many of the Psychotherapists in our NL team. She also coordinates two therapeutic services within complex school settings for a Psychotherapy training organisation. Also, she is the Lead on the TTC’s school’s service.

I am a chartered clinical psychologist. I have always been passionate about my work and it is this passion that led me to set up Dr Ben Weiner and Associates.

Throughout my career, I have gained experience working with people across the lifespan in a variety of settings within the NHS, third sector and private practice. I have worked in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. I have a wealth of experience in working with clients experiencing emotional and mental health concerns including depression and low mood, anxiety, behavioural issues, trauma, ADHD, low self-esteem, obsessive-compulsive disorder, parenting difficulties and intra familial relationships.

I have a wide variety of assessment and therapy experience and have been involved in supporting children, families and adults with psychological and neuropsychological difficulties.

When working with individuals and families I seek to use a range of therapies, mostly drawing on CBT, systemic family therapy, narrative therapy, solution focused therapy, compassion therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. I believe that this broad spectrum of evidence-based interventions can be used collaboratively and flexibly to tailor the treatment to the individual or the family’s specific needs. I am passionate about getting to know and understand the individuals and families that I work with in order to fully comprehend the difficulties they are experiencing and the goals that they are aiming to achieve.

My approach is entirely non-judgemental as I believe that a good client/therapist relationship is based on complete trust and honesty. You can expect a friendly, safe and confidential environment when you come to see me.
