The Dietitian

Dieticians strive to promote nutritional well-being, treat disease and prevent nutrition related health problems by enabling people to make informed choices about food and lifestyle.

Our dietician is registered and a member with The Health Professions council of the British Dietetic Association, both indicators of high professional standards.

Any dietary advice must be relevant to the individual patient. After all, eating is one of life’s pleasures, and changes should only be advised where there is known benefit. The suggested “Diet” is often more relaxed and varied than self-selected dietary regimes

Referrals

Self-directed referrals can be made although, please do discuss any need for dietary advice with your Consultant or GP who can then refer you for a consultation. Especially if you wish to claim through an insurance policy.

The reception staff will be happy to make your appointment, usually within one week of referral.

Remember, dieticians are qualified to help. Many people ask to see a dietician for general advice because they are confused about what type of  “healthy diet” they should be following.

Registered Dieticians are a trusted and reliable source of sound nutritional advice.

General dietary advice can be beneficial in the following situations

  • Vegetarian diets, especially for children
  • Faddy eating in toddlers
  • Pre-pregnancy
  • Prior to operations
  • After an operation
  • During convalescence
  • Families with a history of heart disease
  • General healthy eating for all the family

Since 2008, I have been working in the borough of Barnet as a Specialist Dietitian with a focus on Type 2 Diabetes and Weight Management.

As well as my NHS work, I also offer private consultations on Wednesdays in NW11 and via Zoom in the evenings.

I’ve always been interested in health and genetics and studied Biology at University College London. I then trained as a broadcast journalist with a health specialism and had a ten year career in television news. Life was frantic, and my diet consisted of bars of chocolate and ready made sandwiches, when I had the time to eat them.

After my third child was born, I decided to take a complete break from my career and focus on raising my family. Unfortunately, I had to undergo two surgeries within six months of each other and this resulted in a rapid decline in my health, gut and energy levels. After several visits to various specialists, I began to heal myself through food and lifestyle. Discovering the power of nutrition led me to a four-year professional diploma at the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition, and I haven’t looked back since.

I am registered with the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT), the professional body for registered nutrition practitioners, as well as the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Treating each client as an individual and addressing the root cause rather than just their symptoms is what I passionately believe in. Hormonal imbalances, IBS, weight gain, food intolerances, poor sleep and low energy are just some of the areas I can help you with

  • Suffering with low energy?
  • Burnt out by stress?
  • Concerned about your weight?
  • Experiencing digestive issues?
  • Struggling with your hormones?
  • Feeling your mood is often low?
  • Exhausted from restless nights?
  • Worried about the health of your heart?
  • Battling with an autoimmune disease?
  • Thinking some foods don’t agree with you?
