Dr Racussen is an enthusiastic and solution-focused Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who offers comprehensive assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and young adults presenting with a wide range of mental health disorders. In her practice, she works closely with parents, families, schools and the wider system supporting young people.

With twenty years of NHS psychiatry experience, and over fifteen years working specifically with children, adolescents and families, Dr Racussen is confident in providing the highest standard of care and evidence-based intervention to her patients.

She has a very broad clinical background and adopts a solution-focused approach to helping her patients overcome their difficulties, develop positive coping strategies and reach their potential in life.

Her extensive medical experience, coupled with a curiosity to learn more about the latest trends, is what defines her success in the medical field.

After graduating from the rigours of medical education and vast clinical experience at the University of Cape Town in 1996, Dr Racussen worked in South Africa as a doctor in Accident & Emergency.

Upon immigrating to the UK, she undertook a range of locum A&E and Psychiatry posts in London and the South East before deciding to specialise in Psychiatry.

She completed her General Psychiatry training as a Senior House Officer on the Charing Cross and North West London (CNWL) Psychiatry Rotation, working mainly at South Kensington and Chelsea Mental Health Centre.

This was followed by eight years of inpatient Adolescent Psychiatry (during which time she helped set up a new inpatient service) and secondment as an Honorary Specialist Register at the Tavistock Centre and Royal Free Hospital CAMHS.

Dr Racussen was very fortunate to complete her higher specialist training on the Great Ormond Street and Royal London Hospital Child & Adolescent Psychiatry training scheme.

Her most recent post was working as a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist at a specialist eating disorders hospital for children.
